Transatlantic Cruises
When people think of transatlantic cruising they think of taking a cruise from Southampton to New York onboard the Queen Mary 2 and flying back to London after maybe spending a few days in New York. However, there are many more opportunities available to sail transatlantic.
For example, reposition cruises from the Med to the Caribbean. Normally this transatlantic crossing will take place at the end of the Mediterranean summer sailing in October, and vice versa, at the start of the Mediterranean Summer season in early April, the transatlantic crossing from the Caribbean will be to position itself in the Mediterranean from April onwards. Some cruise lines also offer the opportunity to cross the Atlantic from Southampton or the Mediterranean down to South America.
Sectors of world cruises are also an opportunity to cross the Atlantic with a particular cruise line or ship. However, remember to bear in mind there will be a number of days at sea when sailing the Atlantic without visiting many ports of call, although some cruise lines have started to add ports such as Iceland, Greenland and Canada.
